Species: Pamphobeteus antinous

Origin: Peru and Bolivia

Description:

AKA - Goliath Bird-eating Tarantula or Steely Blue-legged Tarantula.

Although commonly called “Goliath Bird-eating Tarantulas”, they don’t make webs to catch small birds, but will occasionally kill fledglings and other small animals.

One of the largest spiders in the world with abdomens that can reach up to 100mm long.

While they have toxins, they’re not strong enough to lethally harm humans, instead they fire out irritating hairs that cause a rash.

They make a popular pet with no special requirements, although are very agressive.

It has fangs that are about the size of cat’s claws, which it uses like pick-axes rather than grabbing prey.

*Note - This specimen has an abdomen on the smaller side

Frame Size: 23x23xD4cm
